"How to Teach Kids About Electricity in a Fun and Interactive Way"
We recently were invited to an amazing school for Career Day. We were able to teach their students about electricity and safety equipment on the job. We captured their attention with a very simple yet fun experiment that included Playdough, LED lights, and a battery.
Here is how you can recreate this fun activity with your kids at home.
Grab your V9 Battery and attach your positive wire to one of your playdough design and the negative wire to your other playdough design. Remember Red carries positive energy, and Black carried negative energy.
Grab your LED lights and take a close look at them. Notice that each light has two legs, one is slightly bigger than the other. Take the bigger leg and plug it into the positive piece of playdough; and the plug the short leg into the negative piece of playdough.
For this experiment to work both pieces of playdough need to stay separated at all times. If you want to create an intricate design, grab a piece of clay and place it between both pieces of playdough. This will create a barrier, as clay is not conductive.
